Happiness is waking up early enough before work to feed my soul.
The Prophet by Khalil Gibran is a book that John Albert introduced me to over 20 years ago.
BEST ADVICE
“Let there be spaces in your togetherness, And let the winds of the heavens dance between you. Love one another but make not a bond of love: Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls. Fill each other’s cup but drink not from one cup. Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf. Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone, Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music. Give your hearts, but not into each other’s keeping. For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts. And stand together, yet not too near together: For the pillars of the temple stand apart, And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other’s shadow.”
–Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet
Great post here from Kahlil Gibran PG!! It’s only fitting that I comment on this cause Kahlil Gibran was one of my father’s favorite. He read this book often along with other books by Kahlil Gibran. I am familiar with the passage you posted here. It’s Awesome! It must be fate cause you posted this on the day he passed away 18 years ago. So happy to see this here today.
Love that Dina
Thank you Paul ❤️
I have this book and read it many years ago. You have inspired me to find it and read it again. Love the philosophy and wisdom. Thanks.
